Golf, Jetta, Corrado, Vanagon, new models, etc

I was wondering if anyone has some really nice pictures of golf and golf GTI’s
that would like to sell or give away.  I love the new design of the A3 golf &
jetta.  I’m looking for some done out pictures perhaps on what the A4 golf and
jette might look like.  Are there anyone…ooopppsss… any pictures out there?

I am currently wondering about purchasing a torque wrench… I have
one which I bought years ago but it does nothing below 50 ftbs or so..
I am looking for a wrench which starts about 10-15 ftlbs and am
wondering if the the ‘click’ type wrenches really work well at this
small amount of torque (the one I have bearly clicks at 50ftbs)..

I am contemplating getting a digital torque wrench, instead of the
‘click’ version…

Does anyone have any preferences, warnings about torque wrenches for
smaller amounts of torque…

Hi,

I need to decide about buying a FOX by next weekend. I have a choice of
two. Both are low mileage ’93′s. One is a GL. Any help with these questions
would be greatly appreciated!

1. Are they reliable? I need a highway car that will get 20K miles a year
put on it.

2. Is the GL worth $500 more than the non-GL? The only differences I notice
are cosmetic like wider body molding, cloth headrests, nicer armrests and
nicer interior colors. Are there any functional differences?

3. Is there a common failure I should look for?

4. Are the seats interchangeable with Jetta or Golf seats?

5. Has anyone successfully had cruise control installed?

Any other Fox comments are very welcome.

Howdy.

My ’85 Jetta has recently developed a nasty little hesitation when I
initially shift to 2nd gear, esp. with engine cold.

This only happens in 2nd after starting car cold… I give it gas but it
hesitates a bit before revving.

Any ideas welcome.

If this is really happening, it’s pretty ironic since VWs actual
homepage is lame and unfinished.

Here’s a suggestion – Tell VW that you’ll gladly remove the pictures
and free advertising you provide.  Then, replace these positive things
with a listing of recent VW recalls and complaints from current VW
owners.  Some of the threads from this group should work just fine….

Hello all!

I bought a new 95 Golf Sport last Friday. I have already put 1,300 miles
on it, mainly by driving it down from VA to FL during the week-end.
About 700 miles into the drive, I noticed that, when slowing down, the
car would actually _accelerate_ when I raised my foot from the
accelerator. Initiall (Sunday), it only happened from time to time when
I was upshifting; by now, it does it systematically, upshifting,
downshifting, or doing nothing (i.e., just strying to slow down by not
feeding gas, and getting exactly the opposite effect).

This only lasts 2 seconds, after which everything returns to normal,
i.e., the engine revs go down. I am bringing the car to the mechanic
tomorrow, but would appreciate feedback from others who may have
experienced the same problem (I am new to the dealers in the area, so
any additional info will help me).

I have an 87 Golf Diesel which I have owned since 1991 and put 200,000 kms on it.

I have replaced much of the suspension and had the engine checked and minor repairs
and maintenance done to the engine. I have never had my gearbox/transaxle fluid
checked. Is it something that should be checked and/or replaced?

I have never had any problems with it. Just wondering….

Has anyone experienced a faulty seat belt on 87 JETTA GLI? My front passenger
belt will "lock up". This happens infrequently but is a safety problem.
If I have a passenger and it locks up, then it highly restricts their freedom
of movement and is very uncomfortable.  If no one is in the belt and it locks
up, then you want to use it you can’t pull the belt out from its retract
position. I filled a DOT complaint and have heard nothing in 6 months.
The freindly dealer will sell me a new mechanism for 200& labor, but I wonder
if this a systematic problem worthy of a freebie fix.

    Ever since owning my 1990 Carbiolet, I noticed that
 if I down-shift from 3 to 2 to slow the car down, the
 car backfires once, rather loudly.  It only seems to
 backfire when the car is warmed and the speed change
 (around 30MPH in 3rd) is enough to cause the engine to
 rev to 3000 RPMs in 2nd gear.
    Does anyone know the cause of this?  I am NOT too
 worried by it, just want to understand why?  Could it
 be a problem to worry about?
