Golf, Jetta, Corrado, Vanagon, new models, etc

Looking for info on installing a propane furnace and insulated top canvas
in a ’90 Westie.

I’m looking at getting a Scirocco II (82-88), and was wondering what the
differences were w/ engine, etc. and if there are any models to look out
for (I’ve heard bad things about the 85). Which years had the JH 1.8l,
and which had the old 78hp 1.6?

While I was at work today I saw a new GTI with a sticker in the
windshield. The sticker was written in reverse so you could read it
from a rear view mirror. It said slower traffic move right!

I thought it was pretty good and I would share it with you.

Can anyone tell the ramifications of having a 60-70 lb. box in the
trunk of an 86 jetta?  How would it effect
steering-understeer/oversteer? to what extent?

I’m going to order a whole bunch of parts pretty soon and just wanted to
get some opinions on who is the best mail order parts house for VWs.

I have the JCW catalog and I really don’t consider them a contender as
they don’t specialize in VWs.  So who do you like the best and why:

        1) Parts Place
        2) Rapid Parts
        3) Adirondack Auto Brokers (are they only VW?)
        4) Others???

a friend was driving my beloved ’77 rabbit from vancouver to me in
wolfville (an hour or so out of Halifax, Nova Scotia) and my car died north
of Fredericton, N.B.  Does anyone know where I might look for a used engine
to replace that which runs no more currently residing in my vehicle?  any
info would be greatly appreciated.  to be feasible, the motor would have to
be somewhere in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

Well i have had some problems with my golf and I hate the mechanics over here.
I wanna start working on the car myslef, but my knowledge about VW’s is quite
limited.  Are there any good books I buy that would help me ?

The next project that i have to to is that the heating radiator (the thing that
provides heat when u turn on the ventilator) is leaking and i want to fix that
myslef.

Any books that can help me ?

How long should the engine tap (Lifters)  - when you start up in the
morning

Also – is 91 Octane a must in my 87 Vanagon
