Oil lamp blinking, 87' 16V GTi

Hello… I have a question about the oil indication diode om my Golf 16v GTi ’87.
Sometimes when I accelerate the oil diode tend to make some fast blinking, for
approx. 1 or 2 sec, then it stops. I have checked the oil level and it is OK
(almost MAX). What’s the problem? Or, is it a problem?

Corrado SLC Reliability

I think I’ve talked myself into a 1992 or 1993 Corrado SLC…Now I wonder
about reliability.  Would you Corrado owners consider your SLC’s to be
reliable??  I don’t want to invest in a great car at the cost of monthly
repair bills at my local garage…

neuspeed tie bar bent my hood………..DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I just purchased a wonderful brand upper tie bar from Rappid Parts for my
scirocco 16v of ’88.  I drove home happy.  I arrived in my driveway happy.
I opened the tie bar box happy.  But this is where the pain began.  The bar
took me about two hours to get on, with the help of a two by four, a table saw
(to cut the two by four with), a rattail file and alot of swearing and
throwing things.  It was rough but the pain was gone and I was happy again.
Anxious to get on the road and test my new bar out I clean all the tools out
my engine and slamed the hood.  Unfortunatly in the instructions supplied with
the bar they never mentioned that the bar would bend the hood, putting a nice
size bump on the passengers side of it.  Glancing down and seeing the new
crinkle in my hood I wondered what it could have been.  Of course it was not
my BRAND NEW SHINY BLACK RED TIE BAR!!!!! but it was and I am ready to kill.
My car was perfect no damage on the front end anywhere of course that was then
and this is now.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Should I sue for millions!!!
Does anyone know how to how to bang out little dents in the hood?

the proud owner of a 1988 16 valve Scirocco

What's wrong with my starter?

I just bought this 80 Rabbit a week ago and already the starter has gone
bad. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it makes this really weird noise that
I can’t really describe, and sometimes it just won’t start at all. After
Pep Boys couldn’t help me I decided to take it to a VW dealer (Wes Lasher
in Sacramento, CA). They said that when the starter was replaced last
December the idiots who did it may have forgotten to put the heat shield
back on, thus frying the starter. Does this sound plausible?

Re: 88 Jetta, timing marks

This mark I know!
The dimple is 0degreesTDC. The cut mark is the timing mark you
are looking for.

Gasoline smell in side my VW… help!!!

When ever I do some harder driving in my 1980 Rabbit Pickup I notice a
gasoline smell in the cab.  When I get this smell I check the engine
compartment and there is no gasoline smell present, only to return to
the cab and find the smell still there.  On long highway trips there
is no problem.  Only driving in town in traffic where I starting and
stopping or when I nail it for a bit of rapid acceleration.  Any
suggestions here?

Thanks in advance!

Blacked out H4s… DIYS guide!

While I was replacing the stone damaged 7" European H4s on my Jetta
(16V kit) I discovered something rather interesting.  The outer lights
were made by EER in Germany and come standard with the standing light
hole.  While I was trying to fitting my standing light socket in the
hole, I accidently put it in the opening for the H4 bulb.  Then I
discovered something quite neet!  The light looked black instead of
silver.  It investigated a little further and saw that there is a
metal reflector inside the light shell.  So I proceded to paint the
back side of this already dull looking the reflactor black.  Now the
light looks black when it is off and still emmits a nice bright light
when on.  I assume the reflector is not necessary due to the fact that
the Bosh H4s in my Caddy do not have them and the end of the H4 bulb
is already painted black.  I guess it is sort of a cheaper version of
those black Hella 1000 rally lamps!

VW Sharan (CD Changer)

Does somebody knows if it is possible to build in a
CD-ROM changer (Pioneer) in a VW Sharan (VW’s Voyager alike).
I would like to build one in, without loosing space a the back,
or making it impossible to easily take out the back-seats.

Thanks,

Frank

GTI VR6 summer tires??

I’m looking for summer tires to put on my ’95 GTI VR6.

I’d like suggestions from all of you on what you think would be the
best set of tires to buy.

I like a silent ride, great performances on dry surface AND wet
surface.  Don’t care nuch of the price (if it’s worth it).

I’m still running the factory EAGLE GA’s so anything will be better.

I have Pirelli’s P210 winter tires and they’re working great (almost
better than the GA’s on dry surface!)

By the way, I’m living in Quebec, Canada, and the roads are horrible.
If anyone suffers from extreme "squiking" noises, I would be
interested to share mines and ways to repare them if possible.

Thanks.

See ya!

GTI VR6 ’95, black, dedicated to VW since 6 years.

Will 90-92 big bumpers fit 85-89 golfs ?

I saw it in European Car magazine that someone is selling the 90-92
bigger bumpers, which will fit on 85-89 golf or jetta. My question is
: Are they specially made to fit 85-89′s or they are exactly the same
thing  that I can get from VW dealer ? Any comments or info will be
appreciated.
