Golf, Jetta, Corrado, Vanagon, new models, etc

i’m about to upgrade my 95 a3 2.0l with a p-chip and new filter9air
intake) and was wondering who makes the best for overall preformance off
the line, more hp and extended revs. Neuspeed, k&n, autothority. Any
advice would be helpful!   thanks!

yesterday I heard a message on the radio here in Germany, that vw recommends
certain models (golf, jetta, passat..) of the years `83 to `87 (?) to have
their coolant system repaired. They will pay for it.

Does anyone know details about this? What`s wrong with the cars? Will owners
get informed from vw?

Hi,
        My car has occasional starting problems. It has happenned 2-3
times in last few day – when I try to start it, the engine won’t even
turn. It just feels as though the battery is dead. It eventually
starts after turning the keys about 5-6 times. It has happenned with
cold engine as well as with hot engine. Does anyone has had this
problem? The car is a ’85 scirocco. Can someone suggest what could
the problem be? Please respond to sanj…@sybase.com.

My friends ’79 Scirocco just received a new exhaust and cat from Autotech
and now it seems the cat is gone (3 months old).  I’m not sure about this
but ust the other day the car started running very sluggishly and it
sounded like a Beetle in the way it  made the brbrbrbrbr sound.  I
thought it was something in the exhaust just because of the difference
in the way it now sounds.  Another thing that points to the cat is the
e-brake and the area around it in the cockpit are burning hot!  I don’t
think his car has an OX sensor but if it does could ya let me know?  I am
going to look at it with him in the next couple days but any advice in
advance would be helpful.  thanks,

Thank you VW!! The current Passat, although nice, looks like a cross
between an older Audi and a newer Volvo!!!!  I still love
the 1st generation Passat the best! (1st gen in US, anyway..)

The drivers side door handle on my 1981 Golf has just broken. I took the
handle off, and it seems that the piece of metal which the door lever
moves has cracked, so there isn’t the force to release the door catch.

Since I’m bound to get sick of getting in through the passenger side,
is there anything I can do about this?? For example, if I picked up another
handle from a scrapyard, is it possible to change the lock barrels over
easily??

Ok, I drive an 86 Jetta w/150,000 miles on it.  I need a new coil (mine
is doing something really weird – occasionally it gives off shock causing
the engine to miss).  So, should I go to the dealership/Pep boys OR
should I get a performance coil?  Is it worth it??  Where do I find a
performance coil? Thanks for any help!
