? change ATF 2.0l automatic 2001 jetta

I have a Bentley, Vag-Com and am ready to change the transmision
fluid.  To drain it shows a drain plug which is screwed out and an
overflow tube which the drain plug is screwed into.

How do I get the drain plug out?  Just unscrew it?

How is the overflow tube removed? Any special tool?  Trick?

Thanks in advance for the help.

air in rear brakes 90 Jetta

Hi all,
My son has a 90 Jetta. Recently he has had a problem where the rear drum
brakes have to be bled weekly due to air. Any ideas on how this air is
getting in the system? Both cylinders appear to be fine, with no fluid
leaks. Is there any way the proportioning valve could be causing this? Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brian

Hey Woodchuck…

Posted a small problem about the automatic shifter not coming out of park
when the break is stepped on. There may be operator error here in that we
are trying to shift out of park to early… but if not, is it difficult to
replace the components.. I assume a switch attached to the break someplace??

any troubleshooting ideas?

Thanks

2.0L crossflow performance?

Anyone know of any good, cheap hop ups for a 2.0L crossflow?  Coworker
just bought an A3 Jetta and was asking me about giving it a little more
grunt.  He didn’t want to go with a VR6 for insurance reasons but would
like a little more under the hood than the stock 2.0 which I am not
familiar at all with being more of an A1/A2 kind of guy.  I’m sure a TT
exhaust is a good bet, but is there a better exhaust manifold he could
swap to?  Is an aftermarket cam a good idea?  Anything else?  I know
about the Neuspeed blower kit but I think that is a little out of his
price range.

thanks

2.0 crossflow performance

what are good inexpensive hop ups for a 2.0 crossflow?  A coworker
just got one and would like a few more ponies.  I suggested a TT
exhaust but being an A1/A2 guy I don’t know what else works.  Cam?
Intake?  Exhaust manifold (is there a swap like the early Scirocco
into a late A1?)

thanks

FS in MD: 14" wheels

I just got a set of 14" BBS rims, two need repair, otherwise very nice
with all caps and lugs.  Came off an A1 Jetta.  I’d like to use them
on my ‘roccet so if you’d be interested in a set of 14" Borbet Type
C’s let me know.  If nobody wants the C’s I guess I would sell the BBS
rims as well but if you really want ‘em make me an offer before I have
‘em fixed otherwise the price goes up obviously.  I’m located in
between Washington DC and Annapolis, MD.

thanks

A1 vs. A2 vs. A3 wheel offset

Hey…

need to know what factory offset specs are for various chassis.
Coworker is interested in the wheels I just got for his A3 Jetta,
don’t know how to advise him.  The wheels are ET30.

thx

1983 1.3 Formula E OHC Engine Head

After my polo has had trouble maintaining ticking over when inbetween
hot and cold, and general uneven tickover at every other time, and
many attempts at mucking with the lovely pierburg and ignition, we
decided to adjust the valve clearences.

We discovered that the cam shaft above cylinders 3 and 4 were badly
worn. 3-4mm down approx. So I must presume that the valve followers
are also as badly warn. This looks like it was due to the oil pipe
thing being blocked, which we have now fixed.

Can anyone tell me whether:

1) This would cause the rought tickover
2) If I get the entire head off a scapped car, will a 1l one fit the
1.3 engine.
3) Would it matter if it had hydraulic tappets in? (Mine hasn’t)

As you can guess I dont want to spend much on a car that aint worth
much, but it passed its MOT a few months back no problem (although
they said the tickover was rough, so dunno how they tested the
emmissions) so loath to have to replace it with another banger for
A-to-B driving.

Thanks

Q.: '89 Jetta oil pressure buzzer…

What can I say, when it rains, it pours.  My low-oil pressure buzzer
is coming on.  Does it come on when there’s low oil pressure at only
one switch or both?  The buzzer only comes on when coasting at about
2K RPM.  Idle is fine, and under load it’s fine.  No, I haven’t
checked the oil pressure yet.

TIA,
Darryl.
