'81 Cabriolet, AUTO-biography

When Volkswagen started sending their innocent little
Rabbits to Karmann for de-flowering, a new delight
overtook the world.  The sun-starved children (of all
ages) that were being tortured by their mere sunroofed
VWs, had a chance at a new start on life. This is not a
dramatization.

I was four years old whan my Rabbit Convertible was
produced in October of ’80.  I had no idea it was meant
to be.  But after years of waiting for a driver’s license,
then two years of gazing up at the sky from the leather
Recaro in my Jetta, I heard my calling.  Boom, the Jetta
was gone and i started the search for my perfect Cabby.

She was in a small lot here in Tacoma (Washington, duh!)
and was looking a little tired.  But when I got here home,
stripped her down, (wax removal, you pervert) and sponge-
bathed her, she was a beauty!  A dark green (repaint)
glossy coat with a tan top, she had potential.

First, threw away the 13" steel wheels!  Since when did
75 series tires EVER look good?  Some 16" Borbet six
spokes on 40 series BFG’s gave her the athletic look.
New shocks on the rear (5 people in the back seat lost
me a month’s worth of tread!) and lowered in the front
makes her look like she’s about to spring into action!
Light tint and a Neuspeed windshield logo help, too.  And
now, a 90′s Cab grill & H/L kit and euro bumpers finish
off the outside.

Bolted in some leather Recaros from my Jetta, also the
leather steering wheel and shift stuff.  New floormats
(Oh yeah!) and a modest 675 watt, 8 speaker system round
out the interior.  Gotta here the music while cruisin’
the freeway at 120MPH!

1.8L High compression GTI 8V engine looks pretty in
the engine compartment, she’s got brains, too, ladies
and gentlemen!  A techtonics downpipe and exhaust will
let her breath a little easier too.

Lets heatr about your cars!!!!!!!
