I found the FAQ’s once, but forget how and I didn’t mark. How do I get
back, please. I’m mostly interested in engine upgrades that’ll fit in an
81 pickup. Thanks!

There’s a copy at:
http://weber.u.washington.edu/~hornung/vwfaq.html
but I don’t know where the "original" is.

Hi,
have a look at Jan’s page, http://alicudi.usc.edu/~jan/cars.html
he has links to the FAQ’s as well as a lot of other interesting stuff.
Some of which deals with engine swaps.
Cheers

Does Anyone know if there is a volkswagen parts manual in print.
I know that dealers have access to the Microfilm that contain all the current
volkswagens, but is there anything availble to the consumer???
I ran across a website asking for the same information at:
on CD but I would settle for any form avaible: micro film, CD, or even
a hardcopy.

VW Parts List on CD-ROM
This list has about 800 public members. I wonder how many of us
would buy a CD-ROM containing the full microfiche file of the VW
parts list including the exploded diagrams?
Is anyone from Robert Benchly, Inc., John Muir Publications,
Haynes or H.P.Books lurking in the woodwork? What is the
economic cut-point for distribution of their material on CD-ROM?
Even though I could never replace my library of reference
materials (they’re loaded with marginal notes, for one thing;
non-electric portablility being another) I would be happy to pay
$100 to have my Volkswagen reference material available on CD. I
wonder how many list subscribers feel the same?

Here in Germany you can order the microfiche film through a dealer. It
only costs a few DMs. You can also try to get an old one from the dealer,
those microfiches get updated frequently.
