Some time ago I tried fitting a rubber seal onto a vent window frame while
the frame was out of the door, and it was extremely difficult to do, even
though I had lubricated the seal beforehand. I finally got the seal onto the
frame correctly after several attempts, but it was really confusing trying
to figure out just how it was supposed to fit on the frame. Then I had to
work for a long time squeezing, pushing, and pounding in trying to get the
whole thing to fit into the outer vent window frame that is an integral part
of the door.

Now I am getting ready to install a pair of pre-assembled vent windows. They
are complete (metal frames, glass, rubber seals, and chrome trim pieces).
Since the seals are already on the frames and the glass is already bolted
on, shouldn’t it be a lot easier to install these windows onto the door? At
least I won’t have the confusion of getting the seals onto the frames.

So will it be easier this time?

I bought one and so did a friend of mine and a business associate. All
three of us have had enormous amount of problems. The consensus is
that the Touareg is a problem car. Mine has been in the shop for 14
consecutive days getting a new transmission. (24,400 miles). My
friend had his in the shop with two pages of items to be fixed. (3500
miles) My business associate is trading his in after 8500 miles. If
you are making the income to afford the Touareg, trust me, you can’t
afford the time it takes trying to get the vehicle to operate properly.
I’m so disgusted that the dealer will not take it back (I have to hire
an attorney to file a lemon law claim in which I have 2 of the 3
necessary situations–you only need 1) www.nclemonlaw.com

If you are thinking of buying one of these, I know they look hot but
they are not.

Last fall my 2000 Golf was squeeking on turns. It stopped before I got
around to doing anything about it. Now it is back, probably worse. Could
it have something to do with temperature?

When I last had it in for service the mechanic said they usually replace
shocks at 50k, and since I had 65k, I was way past due.

Does that make sense? Is the squeek due to worn out shocks? The car
handles normally enough.
