HELP PLEASE!!! 87 Jetta ignition switch

I am trying to replace the ignition switch on my ’87 Jetta. I have
already taken the steering wheel, switch cluster, and I managed to get
the lock cylinder out as well. Now, I am supposed to remove the
retaining screw for the switch to remove it. However, this screw seems
to be in the housing that holds the lock cylinder and switch to the
steering column. I thought that I may need to remove that housing, but
I am unsuccessful in doing so…Would someone PLEASE give me some
insight on how to replace the ignition switch????

Original oil filter way too tight! (04 Golf)

I did my first (5K mile) oil/filter change on my 04 Golf today.

Or, at least, I changed the oil. I couldn’t change the filter
because the old filter (the one originally installed at the
factory when the car was assembled) was on so tight that I was
absolutely unable to remove it, even after three hours’ worth
of trying numerous tools and all the brute strength my arms,
legs, and (poor aching) back could muster.

I had already drained the crankcase before discovering that
the filter had been installed by a gorilla with power tools,
so I ended up (for the time being at least) putting in new
oil, but keeping the old filter.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? How did you
deal with it? Did you get VW involved? (I’m very seriously
considering raising a stink over this with VW — arguing that
the unreasonably tight oil filter is a defect that they have
an obligation to rectify, without charge, under the warranty.)

Help with power windows!

Hi all,

I have a 1997 Jetta GLS and the power windows stopped working today. I put
the LF and RF windows down and now they won’t go up and the rear windows
won’t work at all! Any ideas?? I know these windows have problems and
I’ve already replaced the RF motor (previous problem). My expertise is in
Subarus so I’m kinda lost here….any help is appreciated! Thanks…

1984 Rabbit GTI , Ground?

Got a 1984 Rabbit GTI, which needs to be jump each time to start it. I’ve
replace the Starter , Alternator , belts, Spark Plugs, Battery Cables,
Battery. Nothing seems to help. Once the car is started it runs perfect. Any
ideas. thre must be a short some place or is there a Voltage regulator on
this car? help..any ideas?

1982 diesel: Where to find fuel rails?

The #1 fuel rail or line from the injection pump to the fuel injector
cracked today. Ebay is devoid of #1 rails right now. Anyone have a source
for new or good used replacements? I’d buy a new set of four as well.
