I have a 1993 VW Passat VR6 with a AutoTech chip and Remus exhaust. Since
the weather has gotten warmer, I have a hot start problem.
After running around town and the motor gets warmed, I shut off the
engine. When go to restart the car, the starter runs and it doesn’t turn
over. I must wait a half-hour for the car to cool down and then it starts
like nothing ever happened. The fuse is fine…I think it might be the
fuel relay….Does anyone have an idea?
I keep getting stranded……H-E-L-P

My guess:
Fuel Transfer Pump (the one in the tank). Listen for excess pump noise
back by the trunk; the dealer (or someone else, if you can’t stand your
dealer) can do a pressure test on the 2 pumps to diagnose this.
Could also be some sort of vapor lock, but that does not seem to be
a frequent VW problem….
Good Luck!
