Instrument Cluster Fitment

Does anybody know if an instrument cluster is interchangable between
an A2 Jetta and an A2 Golf?  I’m think specifically an ’87 Jetta
and a ’90 Golf.

Thanks,
Peter

I don’t think so. The earlier cars have two wiring harness connectors
going into the cluster. According to the Bentley, the 1990 and later cars
    have only one.

Also the Bentley states that instrument cluster components from 1990 and
later cars are not interchangable with those from earlier cars.

Now, that said, you can probably do it if you want to do some rewiring,
its probably not just a plug in replacement. (Also, verify the 1990
version really has only one connector, I haven’t personally checked).
