I’m looking for an adaptor or bellhousing to fit an american four speed
or late model 5-speed to a vw water pumper for a hot rod project but
can’t seem to find anyone that has one ,does anyone out there know how
to do this or know where I can get one

Check out salvage yards for late 70′s/early 80′s AMC cars such as the
Gremlin, and Concord/Spirit, some had 2.0 Audi/Porche type 4 cyls mated to
Ford 4/5spd. boxes. At minimum, that will get you bolted up to 4 and 5 cyl
Audi/Porche engines, not sure if they fit the Rabbit/Golf/Jetta type engine.
One other option may also be Volvo diesels as I believe they use a Borg
Warner gearbox. Hope that makes sense and helps.
For some real amusement, why not pull the transaxle out of a 924?
–TW P.S. I’d like to know if the small and large VAG 4 cyls use the same
bellhousing pattern; I have an ideas of my own.
